More Detours Coming
Driving on another busy street in Sioux Falls is about to get a little trickier, and while it’s a short stretch of street, it’s going to affect a lot of people.
The City Public Works Department says on Tuesday, May 28, Western Avenue will be closed from 57th Street to Interstate 229, and the street will be closed for about three weeks.
The City says construction crews will be installing underground utility upgrades, a 54-inch sanitary sewer crossing on Western Avenue and additional turning lanes at the intersection of 57th Street and Western Avenue.
While the work is going on, Western Avenue traffic will be detoured by way of 57th Street, Minnesota Avenue and I-229.
During the construction, traffic will be maintained on 57th Street and Western Avenue south of 57th Street, but the city says you can expect traffic delays.
As with just about all other construction projects, motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through the construction zone and possibly consider alternate routes.
