It appears that the cause of a fire Tuesday (August 18) morning that heavily damaged Mitchell’s Coca Cola plant was accidental and non-suspicious.

Public Safety Chief Lyndon Overweg says several organizations participated in the investigation. He says it appears the fire started in the area of an ice-maker.

Officers on patrol saw the fire around 2:00 AM and called for help. Overweg says a couple of factors made fighting the fire challenging.

"There was a partial roof collapse and then the thunder storm that came through," said Overweg.

Firefighters knocked the fire down and controlled it around 5:30 AM Tuesday and no one was hurt.
