A missing girl from Yankton has been found less than 24 hours after being reported as a runaway.  The Yankton County Sheriff's office reported that Alexis Layne who had ran away from home had contacted the Department to say that she was in Nebraska.

The girl's mother posted on Facebook that her daughter was missing.  The woman named Penny Layne posted a picture along with a description of the incident that prompted the report.

Here is the post in full:

"This is my daughter.  She ran away from home last night.  Her name is Alexis Layne she is 16 yrs old. She was last seen on 1/23 at 9pm CST leaving the Yankton Walmart with an older white male, black hair & balding. They were seen driving on Broadway going South in a white 4- door sedan with Nebraska plates. If you have any information on her where about please call the Yankton County Sheriff's Dept @ 605.668.3567"

The case was classified as a runaway which is a crime in South Dakota.  No Amber Alert was issued because it was determined that Alexis Layne was not in danger.
