Hot off the release of her new album, The Weight of These Wingson Friday (Nov. 18), Miranda Lambert is opening up about the story behind the striking title that was inspired by her dad, Rick Lambert.

Her father is also a singer-songwriter.

"He mentioned the line to me one time at a show and it just stuck with me," Lambert says of how the title came about. "It just felt really big, some ways heavy and some ways light. It sort of makes you think about a lot of things, just that one sentence."

There's a lot going on in this new project that shows off the singer's emotional and vulnerable sides on a two-disc set titled "The Nerve" and "The Heart," as many of the songs are inspired by heartbreak and grief. When trying to come up with a name that would make the entire album feel cohesive, her father's suggestion was the perfect fit.

"Going through this record process felt like it would tie everything together," she continues. "Being 24 songs, I needed a title that would sort of round out the edges, and The Weight of These Wings felt right."

The new album includes the lead single "Vice," and Lambert's new single “We Should Be Friends." It also features a few songs that Lambert has been teasing over the past several weeks, including “Highway Vagabond” and “Keeper of the Flame.”

She recently announced dates for her upcoming 2017 Highway Vagabond Tour, which will take her to the Midwest and East Coast for select shows from January through March. Aubrie Sellers and Old Dominion will serve as supporting acts.
