Paulette Carlson was born in Moose Lake, Minnesota, a town of less than 3000 people. This small town mid-western girl possessed a voice and singing ability that millions of country music fans would fall in love with.

And those fans still love her songs today. It's been 30 years since the band Highway 101 was formed.

The group was put together primarily for Paulette to have a band to be a lead singer for. In the process she became country music's first female lead singer of a group.

This ground breaking group collected four total ACM and CMA awards for “Vocal Group of the Year,” along with multiple Grammy nominations. Highway 101 led the field in the late 80’s and early 90’s, fueled by Carlson’s distinctive vocals, which would lead the group to ten Top Ten hits.

After forming in 1986, Highway 101 would go on to release their debut single, the Paulette Carlson-penned anthem, “The Bed You Made for Me.” The song burst into the country charts and from that point on, it was hit after hit.
