In a move that may of angered many if it was done for the wrong reasons, Michael Sam was cut by the St. Louis Rams on Saturday as they had to cut the roster to 53 players by today for the regular season.

There wasn't the uproar because the St. Louis Rams handled this situation correctly and decided Michael Sam didn't fit their needs because of his skill set not his sexuality.

I commend the Rams and Sam for their handling of the post draft media coverage and ultimately the entire time Sam was a member of the Rams.

Plus, both parties handled the cut with class and Michael Sam may end up back with the Rams, just on their practice squad and not the active roster.

Sam hit waivers at 4pmET on Saturday and 31 teams will have opportunity to claim Sam before he would then become a free agent at 4pmET on Sunday.

He would then have the opportunity to sign with any team in the NFL.
