Loretta Lynn has canceled a run of upcoming concert dates so she can recuperate from surgery after a recent fall.

The 84-year-old country legend was forced to pull out her annual Labor Day show at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., on Saturday (Sept. 3), after getting injured in a fall earlier in the week. Fans arriving for the show were informed at the gate that the legendary singer-songwriter had been hurt in a fall and would not be able to perform, according to a number of fan posts to Lynn’s Facebook page.

Lynn's sister, country star Crystal Gayle, performed without her and read a letter Lynn had written to her fans, assuring them, "I injured my chest and can’t get a deep enough breath to sing, but I’ll update you Monday [Sept. 5] after I see the doctor.”

According to a statement on Lynn's official website, her injuries were not serious, but she will have to have minor surgery, and she will stay off the road until she's made a full recovery on the advice of her doctors. She is currently recuperating at home.

Lynn has postponed upcoming shows that were scheduled for Sept. 9 in Renfro Valley, Ky., Sept. 10 in Newell, W.Va.and Sept. 17 at the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Bristol, Tenn. Fans can keep up with her upcoming shows and re-scheduled dates via the event calendar at her site.
