Lonely Plant says today that you should visit South Dakota - at least western South Dakota this year.

The area is one of their top recommendations for 2015.

They note:

"With a combination of vast natural beauty, quirky small-town charm, Native American cultural sites, and some famously larger-than-life presidential noggins carved into a mountain, it’s hard to find anywhere that looks more like the America of one’s imagination than Western South Dakota."

The also cite the 50th anniversary of the Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup, the Oglala Sioux and National Park Service working to create the first tribal national park in the southern Badlands and the 75th anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as outstanding activities to see.
