LeAnn Rimes has been through a lot over the past few years: an affair, a divorce, a marriage, rehab -- all in a very public eye. But now, the 30-year-old songstress is focusing on the future and says that it's time for other people to move on, too.

With the recent release of her newest album, 'Spitfire,' which is a tremendously personal look at her emotions and struggles over the past few years, people are again talking about Rimes and her love life -- but she is definitely through with the talk, and wants to instead focus on the music.

She tells Rolling Stone, “I think it’s kind of interesting how country music is about ‘real life,’ but there are people who don’t [want] me to live it. Within real life you make mistakes. And you know, you own up to them and move on."

"And that’s the greatest thing -- we’ve all moved on," Rimes continues. "And it’s time for other people to move on. But it seems now to be this story, almost this soap opera, that people are invested in. They love the drama of it. Which is insane to me.”

While that tumultuous time of her life was certainly difficult -- even causing her to enter an in-patient facility for a bit, Rimes is trying to clean up some of the mess by opening up completely and vulnerably through her music. “When you listen to ‘Spitfire,’ I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind. It’s just the truth,” the 'Just A Girl Like You' singer states. “I say it’s the truth in no particular order, ’cause it is. And I feel like so many people have written such a skewed story… it’s also very skewed to paint a picture of myself and my husband that’s completely opposite of what we really are."

"So I think through my music I was able to finally have a voice in my own life," she adds. "And I think that when you listen to this record you take a piece of me away, ’cause it’s that personal.”

It's her new mindset: approaching music from a human perspective, which she talked about recently on 'The View.' Rimes is even able to approach life with humor again, as she adds with a laugh, “My life is one big country song.”

Rimes has moved on, and is hoping everyone else will too.
