Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood and his wife just welcomed their first child in September, and the country star admits fatherhood has been a big adjustment so far.

The couple's son, Cash Van Haywood, was born on Sept. 7.

"It's amazing. It's really changed my life," Haywood told reporters at the Nashville premiere of the new Nicholas Sparks movie, 'The Best of Me,' on Thursday night (Oct. 9). "It's been a crazy four weeks. My son's only a month old, and my wife Kelli is here -- this is our first kind of 'out for the whole night' date night, so this is kinda the first moment for us to get away and have a babysitter and do the whole nine yards."

Haywood admits that parenting requires a brand-new set of skills.

"No sleep, no schedule -- we have no idea what we're doing," he acknowledged. "But we're having an absolute blast doing it. Until you become parents, you don't understand, I think, the commitment and the work it takes to really keep a child alive. That's what we're trying to do right now."

Lady A have two songs in the film; 'Falling for You' and 'I Did With You,' which is one of the key tracks in the film and on the soundtrack. They performed 'I Did With You' at Thursday night's screening, joining Thomas Rhett, SHEL and Gareth Dunlop and Colbie Caillat onstage at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
