As is the tradition of champions of many a sport, a visit to the White House to get a congratulatory handshake from the Commander-In-Chief is in order.

This time, it was NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski who visited with Barack Obama outside the Oval Office with the famous #2 Miller Lite car in the background.

The best line of the day would have to go to the President:

I was getting tired of seeing (Jimmie) Johnson all the time"

After all, Johnson is a 5-time champion.

The celebration was described as somber in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings. There had been speculation that maybe the event would be postponed, given the horror of Boston, but Obama signaled that was never an option. "We don't let such cowardly acts get in the way of our lives," he said.

President Obama managed to get in one more quip as he pointed to the "Blue Deuce" saying,

Brad offered to let me drive it around the South Lawn, but the Secret Service said no"
