Keith Urban has released the music video for his newest single, "Wasted Time," and The Boot's readers are getting to see it first.

Directed by John Urbano -- who also helmed Urban's "Cop Car" and "Somewhere in My Car" clips -- the "Wasted Time" video was shot in California over a two-day period. Its carefree-yet-nostalgic vibe makes it the perfect accompaniment to the song, which finds Urban reflecting on childhood summer nights spent hanging out with friends and having a ball.

“When I think about those summer nights / Singing out the window on the backroads “Sweet Child of Mine,”” Urban sings in the song’s chorus. “… Ain’t it funny how the best days of my life / Was all that wasted time.”

Scenes of Urban looking at photos while writing the lyrics to "Wasted Time" and performing the track at a party in the woods are interspersed with a group of friends enjoying summertime and their young lives. Press play above to watch.

“Wasted Time” was written by Urban, Greg Wells and J. Hart, and Urban and Wells co-produced the track.

“I worked with a lot of new people on Ripcord, and Greg was one I’d wanted to work with for a long time. He’d been writing a lot with J., and so the three of us spent a couple days at Greg’s studio to jam and see if we clicked,” Urban recalls. “Greg had this cool chord progression, and I grabbed my guitar and started singing a melody. J. suggested the title, and before we knew it, we were talking about growing up and all the things you do, no matter where you are in the world, and the song just took off from there.”

“Wasted Time” is at radio now. Ripcord is scheduled for release on May 6. On June 2, Urban will kick off his Ripcord World Tour 2016, featuring Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris.
