Kacey Musgraves' reaction to her Album of the Year win at the 2019 Grammy Awards was one of pure shock. The camera trained on her as her name was announced in the all-genre category caught the country star's first response: "Oh my ... What?!"

As the crowd around her clapped for her victory, Musgraves stayed seated as she kept repeating one word: "What?!" Her husband, singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly, looked equally surprised: He clasped both hands over his mouth and leaned back in his chair, before turning to hug his wife.

Slowly, the two stood up for a kiss before Musgraves, still in disbelief, made her way to the stage to accept her trophy. The country star looked elated, if confused as the audience rose around her; at one point, she briefly turns back to look at Kelly and her empty seat, letting out another "What?!" before taking the stairs to the stage.

"Oh my God. Oh my God. I don't even know what to say," Musgraves stammered as she stepped up to the podium. She was so shocked at her win that she hesitated even to take the Album of the Year trophy from host Alicia Keys.

"It was unbelievable to be even in a category with such gigantic albums, such brilliant works of art. It's really crazy," Musgraves continued. "But I'm very thankful, and I know that winning this doesn't make my album better than anyone else's."

At the end of her speech, Musgraves admitted that, at the end of the day, the honor boiled down to her connection to the songs on the album and her connection to the fans: "I would have nothing without the songs. To me, it's all about the songs," she explained. "I really don't know what to say. Other than thank you to my fans. Thanks for spreading this music."

Musgraves also won all three of the other categories in which she was nominated. In addition to Album of the Year, she took home Best Country AlbumBest Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
