The Josh Abbott Band have decided to take the weekend off after witnessing the shooting at Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival last Sunday (Oct. 1).

The Texas-based country group shared on Twitter that they'll resume touring on Oct. 14, choosing to cancel more immediate shows "out of respect for the victims and their families ... and the overall health of our band and crew."

Abbott and his bandmates were Sunday performers at Route 91. The singer tweeted a status update on Monday, revealing that he was separated from his fiancee in the melee. She was inside the Mandalay Bay hotel, and he was unable to get back in.

Abbott tweeted a few more times throughout the week, mostly reflecting on how happy he was to be back at home with his baby girl.

These Are the Victims' Stories

Abbott and his crew were part of several artists providing on the ground reports nearly in realtime on Sunday night and Monday morning. Jake Owen and Chris Young also shared disturbing details about what they saw. Headliner Jason Aldean was on the stage at the time of the shooting. He has mostly stayed quiet aside from two statements on Instagram.

In total 59 people were killed and more than 500 injured when the gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Casino, which sits across the street from the Route 91 Harvest Festival venue. Aldean also canceled his weekend shows. Young returned to the stage on Wednesday night, starting the show with a tribute to the victims.
