With the busy Memorial Day weekend approaching, and hot dogs being the staple of every picnic, make sure to check your groceries for these beef franks. John Morrell and Co. is recalling nearly a quarter million pounds of ready-to-eat hot dogs that may be contaminated with metal, according to the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

These beef franks are subject to recall:

  • 14 oz. sealed film packages containing “Nathan’s SKINLESS 8 BEEF FRANKS,” with a Use By date of Aug. 19, 2017.
  • 16 oz. sealed film packages containing “Curtis BEEF MASTER Beef Franks,” with a Use By date of June 15, 2017.

As of last Friday (May 19) the company has received 3 complaints due to foreign objects in the popular hot dogs - although no injuries.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 296” on the side of the package.

These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. If you have these franks, do not consume. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
