Joe Johnson Will Add Depth to Contender

The Brooklyn Nets and veteran guard Joe Johnson are now in negotiations for a contract buyout. Once considered an elite shooter in the NBA but is now on the downward stretch of his career at age 34.

Johnson is currently on the last year of his six-year $124,658,089 deal that he signed with the Atlanta Hawks in 2010.

If a deal gets done, Johnson will more than likely sign with a championship contender. The front runners currently are Cleveland, Oklahoma City, Miami and Atlanta.

There have been rumors all season that Cleveland has had an interest in Johnson if a deal gets done. If Cleveland is able to lure him in then that would add the much needed outside shooting to the roster.

The best case scenario for Johnson is to go to a playoff team but somewhere he can also get paid. With that in mind, his options are Atlanta, Boston, and Miami because of salary cap limitations.
