Jimmie Johnson Wins NASCAR Race at Dover International Speedway

Jimmie Johnson took the lead on an overtime restart from Kyle Larson to win at Dover International Speedway on Sunday afternoon. It was Johnson's 11th win in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at the one mile track in Delaware.

It marked his third win of the season in NASCAR's premier series. But the big story, is how many career victories it gives him.

Sunday's win at Dover marks his 83rd victory. That ties Johnson with NASCAR Hall of Famer Cale Yarborough on the all-time win list.

The win on Sunday didn't come very easy either. Johnson's crew made an unapproved gear change on the car before the race, causing the number 48 Chevrolet to start at the back.

By late in the race, Johnson had worked his way toward the front. He only led two times for seven laps, but he led the one that mattered most after passing Kyle Larson on an overtime restart.

Larson led the most laps on Sunday at Dover. He was out front for 241 laps, but settled for second place for the fifth time this year.

Martin Truex Jr., the series points leader, finished in third. Ryan Newman and Chase Elliott completed the top five. See where your driver came in.
