Jesse Sheppard's "Run Away" video is a carefree adventure, but the song and the new clip are actually the product of a great deal of careful thought and planning.

The singer-songwriter describes "Run Away" as "a progressing storyline of a guy that has been convinced by his girlfriend to drop everything they're doing, and escape on a road trip to break away from the stresses of life. As the song progresses, the guy slowly starts to throw away any skepticism that was had about the road trip, and begins to enjoy the journey with his adventurous girlfriend."

His intent in shooting the video was to "show how urgent it is to live life to its fullest and from the heart."

In the clip above, which is debuting exclusively via Taste of Country, Sheppard's character receives a middle-of-the-night phone call from his girlfriend, who urges him to join her in hitting the road the next day. The video intersperses shots of Sheppard singing the song with scenes of the happy couple driving and laughing together.

"The purpose of that was not only to show the guy's transition from skeptic to having the time of my life, but it was also to show that the true escape was not necessarily the road trip itself, but in fact was the time spent alone with his girl," Sheppard relates. "In the final scenes of the video, the trees and water truly capture the freedom that can be found when the simple things are put first."

Sheppard was the guitarist, lead vocalist and principal songwriter in the pop band Six Stories Told. At the end of 2015 Sheppard, who is now 20, decided it was time to pursue a solo career that allowed him to incorporate his other influences into his new songs.

His six-song debut EP, These Days, features a unique amalgam of pop, country, folk, pop and soul music, drawing on country influences including Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban, while also referencing influence like Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and Ben Rector to create a sound all his own.

"Run Away" is the lead single from a full-length project slated for 2017. It is available for download at iTunes. For more information about Jesse Sheppard, visit his official website.
