The world lost one of the great storyteller's in country music history on August 24, 1998.

That's when Jerry Clower passed away at the age of 71 following heart bypass surgery.

There isn't much story telling going on in country music anymore, not even in the songs really. I know it's fun to hear songs about driving pickup trucks, girls in short shorts, partying and all. There's nothing wrong with that, I guess. But don't you love a real story, whether in song or spoken word?

From Tom T. Hall in song to Minnie Pearl in humor, country music has been the home to great tales, tall or true.

Well, Jerry Clower was a master at country storytelling and comedy. He'd take us all down to Yazoo City, Mississippi and introduce us to his friends. In fact, here comes one now!

Let's have Jerry tell us what Marcel Ledbetter is up to.
