2014 was a big year Jason Aldean. The two-time ACM Male Vocalist of the Year released a new album, Old Boots, New Dirt, and his sexy new single "Burnin' It Down" earned platinum certification in only 9 weeks. The star also got engaged to girlfriend Brittany Kerr, but despite his accomplishments, he couldn't seem to shake the haters off.

Aldean was photographed kissing Kerr in 2012 while he was still married to his first wife, Jessica Ussery, and as a result, the singer faced an enormous amount of scrutiny when the public learned about the scandal. But he is eager — very eager — to put the drama behind him in 2015.

"I'm looking forward to 2015 ... to settle down and to focus on what I need to be focusing on, which is my career and my relationship," Aldean says in an interview with the Tennessean. "I want everything else to take a backseat for a while, and for all the focus not to be on negative stuff all the time. That stuff is a drag reading about it and seeing it and constantly being asked about it. I'm looking forward to putting all that stuff behind me."

The country star is optimistic about his ability to put the personal drama behind him as he focuses on his tour.

"Honestly, it feels a lot better than it ever has," he notes. "I think people see (my relationship with Brittany Kerr) is something real and legitimate. It wasn't some random crazy thing. It feels different than it ever has now, and it allows us to actually enjoy it a little bit and not walk around with our helmets on. It's been cool lately."

Aldean is currently on his 2015 Burn It Down tour.
