Jake Owen is a big country star with a very big heart. With the help of a few other artists and caring folks, the singer recently raised more than $200,000 for the Kids Cancer Alliance.

Yep, that’s a whopping amount of money — and no, he’s not keeping any of it for himself. Owen headlined the 2014 Concert for the Cause event with loads of other big names in music along for the ride, including Frankie Ballard, Jana Kramer, Paul Overstreet, Scotty Emerick, Jason Sturgeon, Ilya Toshinsky, Josh Osborne, Ben Bradford and Olivia Lane.

They all pooled their talents and time for the Kids Cancer Alliance Concert for the Cause in Louisville, Ky. on Jan. 11. The performance took place in an intimate, acoustic setting, and a live and silent auction also took place. Dee Jay Silver, who’s becoming quite a staple at country music events, provided the entertainment at a special after-party.

While lots of artists do a lot in the name of philanthropic efforts, showing their generosity toward those who are struggling, this event was especially meaningful to Owen. As a father to a baby girl, Pearl, kids obviously hold a special place in his heart — and cancer has affected Owen’s life in an extreme way. The singer’s dad dealt with the horrific disease and intense treatments, but is thankfully now cancer-free.

Props to Owen, who is helping the Kids Cancer Alliance carry out their mission to enhance the quality of life for children with cancer and their families through camp and recreational programs!
