Internet Memories: Stomping Grape Lady

The Internet has been around long enough that I remember using it twenty years ago. When this came up on the show today it reminded me of the first time I saw it, before Youtube.

The stomping grape lady was sent to me in an email, back when the streaming video was only done with Windows Media Player or the Real Player. I got this in an email in a really heavily compressed file, probably a mpeg or wmv file. I have no idea. I just remember feeling bad for her and laughing hysterically at the noise she made while again feeling guilty.

But then when they finally cut back to the anchors in the studio, after an awkwardly long amount of time, I laugh myself into tears watching those anchors trying to get out of the segment.

As for what happened to the Grape Lady? It is a bit of a mystery. It appears she worked at other TV stations for a while and may currently work at JC Penney, but no one really knows.
