Spend any time outdoors during the summer and you're bound to be annoyed by mosquitoes.

If the weather conditions are right this week the City of Sioux Falls Health Department will be conducting spraying efforts for mosquitoes in targeted areas of Sioux Falls during the evening hours.

Spraying will occur between 8:00 PM and 1:00 AM weather permitting.

So if you hear that steady hum kind of like a drone just look out the front window of your home and more than likely it will a pickup strolling down the street with flashing lights and a sprayer.

Spraying is not just limited to residential.

Additionally, the Health Department sprays the City bike trail two mornings a week between the hours of 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM.  All spraying is subject to change due to weather conditions.

Citizens wanting to report local concerns on mosquitoes or standing water should leave this information on the automated Mosquito Reporting Hotline at 605-367-8799.
