Ice Fish Fest At Catfish Bay
It’s one of the only times that Catfish Bay is open to the public for fishing, and it happens Saturday, January 25, 2014. Originally started as a way to get the whole family outdoors to enjoy the wintertime, Catfish Bay’s Ice Fish Fest 2014 is an annual event that is quickly growing into one of the biggest ice fishing tournaments in South Dakota.
Because 2013′s Ice Fish Fest was such a huge success, numbers will be limited this year to make sure the event is fun for all anglers. Last year’s Ice Fish Fest drew over 500 participants and over 1,000 fish were caught.
On-line registration ends at midnight on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Catfish Bay encourages anglers to register on-line to save money on the entrance fee and to help the organizers plan for this event. All holes will be pre-drilled for the Ice Fish Fest.
The proceeds from Catfish Bay’s Ice Fish Fest help raise money for the volunteer Catfish Bay Water Ski Team and Camp OnAqua. Camp OnAqua is a week long, day camp that gives kids (ages 8 to 13) the opportunity to enjoy water recreation in an environment that is both fun and safe.
With all holes being pre-drilled, anglers only need to bring their fishing poles, warm clothing and a little luck!
