It was a CRAZY day of weather throughout the area.

The city of Sioux Falls is asking that Sioux Falls Not use any water overnight due to stress on cities water system. (till 5:00 a.m.)


I-29 remains closed North of Canton to the I-229-I 29 exchange south of Sioux Falls.

KDLT TV Weather man Brandon Spinner had to re rout to get back to Sioux Falls from Omaha last night.  He stated on twitter:

Made it back to Sioux Falls. Only really one route from the Beresford area. Take Exit 42 west to Wakonda, then 19 to 42

More:  No travel advised overnight in TURNER COUNTY. 

Also, we're hearing reports that Harrisburg Elementary has been hit with high water. Reports are that the gym floor will need replacing at a considerable expense.

Earlier this Monday afternoon, we took calls of a camper off a pickup in the Hartford area on I-90. A Truck with a wind Turbine Blade off the trailer near Canton. We took calls from worried listeners wondering how they were going to get home to their families tonight.

The following is a post from the South Dakota Highway Patrol:

PIERRE, S.D. – State officials have closed Interstate 29 south of Sioux Falls because of water over the road.

Northbound traffic is being diverted from Interstate 29 at Exit 47 onto S.D. Highway 46 at Beresford. Southbound lanes of I-29 are closed at Exit 73 near Tea due to water over the road further south.

Motorists are reminded not to drive through water over roadways. Travelers are urged to visit safetravelusa.com/SD or to call 511 to check latest road conditions in their area.
