Hunting, Fishing Fees To Rise?
Campers across South Dakota could be paying more at South Dakota state campgrounds and recreational areas next year. The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission will be holding a meeting November 7 to decide if prices for camping permits, lodge rentals, cabins, picnic shelters and firewood should increase.
The pay hikes could range from less than $1, but would not exceed $5. Increases such as these don’t sound like a lot, but could give South Dakota $702,000 of added money in 2014. The Game, Fish and Parks Commission said there hasn’t been a raise in fees since 2011.
There is also a public hearing on November 7 in Pierre to determine if the Wildlife Division should raise the price of fishing, hunting and trapping licenses. This increase could bring in more than $2 million in extra money to South Dakota.
