PGA Tour sensation Jordan Spieth took the golf world by storm this weekend with an awesome performance at The Masters, and Orange City, Iowa golfers know the caddie who helped him call his shots.

MOC-Floyd Valley High School and Northwester College graduate Michael Greller used to walk and golf the fairways of Landsmeer Golf Club in his earlier years.

Having moved from Michigan with his father in 1992, and still in high school, Michael challenged the head pro at Landsmeer to a friendly match - and beat him. From there he went on to become a star player for Northwestern College. After college, Greller went on to teach golf, then got into sales, then taught a math class in Oregon before turning his attention back to golf - and the world of caddies.

Greller hadn't given caddying much thought until he attended the 2006 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship near his home course in Tacoma, Washington. It was there that he noticed golfer Matt Savage carrying his own bag. Greller approached him and offered to work free for free and carry his clubs the rest of the tournament. Michael's guidance helped Savage shoot a stellar 69 and made the cut and advanced all the way to the match play quarterfinals.

A new career was born. It's funny how life's path can change in an instant.

Greller will be back together with Spieth again for the PGA Championship Aug. 8-11 at Oak Hill in Rochester, N.Y. and by the way they click on the course, I'll put my money on them for the win...again.
