This past weekend I was out on the farm with my friend Dan Soulek who lives south of Armour, SD. I love to get out and see the land this time of year before the crops start coming up and things start to green up. This year, you can notice it already. It's dry. Bone dry in a lot of parts of the state of South Dakota. (Pic courtesy of Sprint Sioux Falls shows debris in the ditch from windy, dry conditions.)

Now, it's made for awesome calving season for area farmers and ranchers but they're already starting to talk. It doesn't take long to get a farmer, or farm wife or any one you talk to in a rural small town talking about the weather and the lack of rain. We're ready.

Looking back, we had a pretty easy winter. Even though temperatures are closing in on 80 today and the winds are up, thus the Red Flag Warning, there is still a large community of people in agriculture who would probably all agree. We could use a good rain!

Hey, let's all wash our car or pickup for the Easter Weekend. That usually does the trick for me.
