Henry Johnson was an adorable six-month old baby who had just started going to daycare, when his parents noticed drastic changes in him. He was fussy, he was vomiting, pale and lethargic.

A trip to the doctor's office became a nightmare when Henry was diagnosed with shaken baby syndrome.

Doctors cautiously told his parents he might never develop normally and it has been a long winding road. Henry is blind and does have some developmental issues, but he is now an active 7-year old who loves music, his school and his family.

It was in his honor, to raise dollars and awareness of child abuse that his parents partnered with the Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota and Child's Voice to share their story and sponsored the first "Henry's Run."

"Henry's Run" 5K Run/Walk continues and is coming up on Saturday, April 25, 2015, 10 AM at Falls Park in downtown Sioux Falls.

All Sport Central is the place to register and you can do that, (online only) through 9:30 AM the day of the race for only $25. All proceeds benefit Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota and Child's Voice with child abuse prevention efforts like The Period of Purple Crying program, an educational DVD and booklet for parents on the dangers of shaking a baby.

If the run/walk isn't your thing, but volunteering is, The Helpline Center needs you. They are looking for about 25 people to help out at the race with set up, checking people in, handing out water, clean up and more. Call Elizabeth Groff with Sanford Health at 605-333-2200 to give your time for this great fundraiser.

If neither the run/walk or volunteering fit in your schedule, no problem! You can simply donate to the "Henry's Run" cause knowing that you are doing something to help prevent pain to some of life's most innocent victims.
