I have thoughts that keep pushing me through, also reminding me that I will always be living with cancer.  I look around and I am surrounded by many people in the same boat that I am in, so I am not alone.  God will get me through the hard times, He always does.  Thanks to all of you who love and support me, I wouldn't be so strong without all of you.

Those are the words of a Sioux Falls woman, who in August of 2012, was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Since her diagnosis, Heather Peterson has had a double mastectomy, fought a staph infection and has suffered 3rd degree burns from radiation.

In December of 2013, four tumors were found in her spine.  She is currently at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Chicago, where she is continuing her fight.

The past year and a half have been difficult for Heather and her family.  Not only physically and emotionally, but also financially.

Because of her diagnosis, Heather hasn't been able to work consistently, and her partner Jason has had to take time away from his job to help Heather in her fight.  But through all of the ups and downs, Heather and her family continue to keep their amazing attitude and have asked for nothing....except prayers.

Prayers continue to be given to Heather and her family, but now is also the time to give something extra.

Friends and family members of Heather Peterson are having a concert benefit, Sunday, March 9th at the American Legion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  'Healing Power for Heather' is an event that will allow others to open their hearts and give the support to this family as they prepare to face the may challenges associated with Heather's diagnosis.

The 'Healing Power for Heather' event will start at noon and the fun will go until 6pm.  All ages are welcome!  There will be food, a bake sale, a silent auction and live auction, door prizes and raffle drawings.  T-shirts and bracelets will also be sold. Live music starts at noon, and will be provided by 'Too Drunk To Fish', 'Jukebox Zeros', 'Break Even' and 'Driven'.

If you are unable to attend the 'Healing Power for Heather' event, please consider making a donation to the Heather Peterson Fund at Service First Federal Credit Union in Sioux Falls or Reliabank Dakota in Hartford.
