Make A Difference Day is coming and you've been wondering if there is anything "little 'ole you" could do to make a real difference in someone's life, (besides buying a latte for the person behind you). Well there is. But be warned, it does involve fresh air, a rake, lots of leaves and laughter. That is why this is a perfect project for families, church and youth groups and individuals who want to hang out with other leaf lovin' peeps!

Registration is open now for "Rake The Town" which is coming up on Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th. One thousand volunteers are needed to rake the yards of  300 elderly and disabled homeowners, 60 and older, who are not physically or financially able to do it themselves.

Leaf bags will be provided, but you do need to bring your own rake and if possible, haul your bags to a leaf drop-off site, which you will have free access to as a volunteer. The great participating sponsors for Rake the Town this year include: the Argus Leader, the Helpline Center, CNA Surety and Scheels All Sports.

Homeowners can register online through October 10th and volunteers can register through October 15th. Click here or call 2-1-1 for all the details.
