Hair Today, Gone Veteran’s Day
Fans of the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers could be in for a surprise. Troy Polamalu, man with the most recognizable hair in the NFL, will be cutting his hair on Veteran’s Day in support of the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ “Mane Event”. The event raises money and awareness for veterans returning home from overseas.
Polamalu, who hasn’t had a haircut in a decade has always kept his hair long in honor of his Samoan heritage. So cutting his hair wasn’t an easy decision to make. The strong safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers proudly wears number 43 on his jersey, but because his hair is about 3 feet long, a fan might not be able to see that number on his back.
Polamalu’s hair has been featured on many commercials through endorsements and in comedy skits. He has even had his hair insured for $1 million dollars. But supporting veterans is something Polamalu believes in, and even dares others to cut their hair in support.
