Country music came back to Sioux Falls Wednesday night.

Don't get me wrong.  Country music on a 'national level' is doing just fine.  Take for instance Tim McGraw and Brantley Gilbert.  They are sure to sell out their July 20th show at the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds. (Pre-Sale tickets on sale Thursday at 10:00 a.m.)  Or up and coming stars like Hunter Hayes and Kip Moore, who are also scheduled for the fair later this summer.  Country Music on a national level is doing just fine.  But for a new talent getting started, that's another story.

Wednesday night, the owners of a Sioux Falls nightclub took a chance, by bringing in Hebron, North Dakota native Gwen Sebastian.   Oh sure, Gwen had appeared on The Voice and has even toured with Blake Shelton but she has yet to really break through on a national level.  Getting air-play on a national level isn't easy. The release of her new album might be the first step in changing that.

If you watched The Voice, you already know this.  Gwen Sebastian can sing.  Period.  She's cute, bubbly and can belt it out with the best of them.  So, can she sing live?  If you were at The Vault last night you know the answer to that question is yes! The crowd wasn't huge, but fans who were at the show appreciated it.

But can she meet with a local radio station for an on air appearance to promote a show?  Yes!  Gwen did a great job with a supper bubbly personality and even sang Wednesday afternoon Kickin' Country.

Will Sioux Falls see more acts like this coming through?  We'll have to wait and see.  We might not  live in Denver, Kansas City or Minneapolis, but we do live 'in between' places like that.  That means there is a chance of booking well know artists who are 'on their way' to a bigger city.

If you are a fan of Country Music or just a fan of live music on any level, get out and support the shows like this.  Gwen Sebastian is a great talent!

Gwen and the band met with fans after the show then quickly loaded up and headed off to their next show in Williston, North Dakota.  Such is the glamorous life of touring and trying to break through in the music industry.

Here's a sample of Gwen's unique style.  Check it out!
