UPDATE: Press Release from Grand Forks Air Force Base:

Early this morning, a shooting occurred within Grand Forks city limits at the 32nd St. Walmart involving a Grand Forks Air Force Base Airman. Three people were involved, with two confirmed dead.  Next of kin is being notified. This incident is currently under investigation, more information will be released as soon as it becomes available. Air Force Office of Special Investigations is currently working with downtown law enforcement.

UPDATE: According to the Associated Press, the suspect in a shooting at a Grand Forks Walmart is one of the two people dead.

Police say the gunman is among the two people who died in a shooting at a Walmart store in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Lt. Derik Zimmel says the shooter was the only person with a gun, and police do not believe there is any further safety risk to the general public.

Grand Forks Air Base released a statement indicating that an airman was involved in the incident, but did not state if the airman was the shooter or a victim.

Grand Forks Police are investigating a shooting at the Walmart Supercenter this morning.  Authorities say they were called to the store on 32nd Avenue South around 1:00 AM, May 26, 2015.

Doug Barrett from KNOX Radio in Grand Forks has the details:

When officers arrived they discovered multiple victims inside.   One victim was transported to Altru Hospital with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.  Police say two people are dead.  All names are being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Grand Forks Police Department Lieutenant Derik Zimmel says there is no immediate threat to the public.  All three individuals are said to all be from the region. Zimmel says it’s an active investigation and officers will likely be on the scene for a good portion of the morning.

Authorities hope to release additional details Tuesday.
