If you were out and about Sunday afternoon in South Dakota you have good feel for what a beautiful summer day is all about.  Not much wind, blue skies and nice temperatures.

My wife and I made a quick trip to the Armour area Sunday afternoon to pick up a purchase she had made at a rummage sale.  When we got to our friends house, I asked Dan if he would take me around for a quick ride to check out the crops.  That's what you're supposed to do if your from the city when you get a chance.

Everything looks great!  The brome grass in the ditches is almost chest high.  Quite a change from last years super dry summer.

And the corn is off to a rockin' start all across eastern South Dakota.  The cool wet spring was ideal for growing crops, and where farmers might have wondered if it was ever going to warm up, you can tell by the way the corn is responding that it's pretty happy with the weather the way it's worked out.

Oh, and as for that saying about the corn being knee high by the fourth of July?  I don't think it will have much trouble getting up to your shoulder by the time we hit the fourth!

Thanks to Dan Soulek from Armour for the quick tour Sunday afternoon.  And also thanks to Norvo and Nick from Sprint for setting me up with an awesome Samsung Galaxy S 4.  As you can tell by the photos, it takes wonderful pictures. We'll be using it a lot and sharing with you through the summer.

If you have any pics from your farm, we would love to share them at KIKN.com.  You can send them to jdcollins@kikn.com
