The Sioux Falls Career and Technical Education Academy is opening its doors to the general public Thursday night, January 15, 2015, beginning at 5 PM.

It's an opportunity for the public to tour the facility and learn more about all the opportunities available to students in the local area.

The mission of CTE Academy is to "educate and prepare students for future success through specialized, relevant, career-orientated learning."

It's geared mainly towards those high school students who don't intend on going to college.

Visitors who attend the open house will be able to experience the new flight simulators in the Aviation program, visit with students and staff in the field of Automotive Technology, and tour the KLRN television studios.

Sample appetizers will also be served courtesy of students in the Culinary/Restaurant Management program, and tours will be given of the houses being constructed by the carpentry students who attend the school.

The open house runs from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again is free and open to the public.

For those who can't make the January 15, 2015 event, another open house will be held on Monday January 19, 2015.  That night will not only feature tours, but also time will be devoted to Financial Aid and FAFSA completion for those high school seniors who plan on attending a technical school.
