Eric Dodd is taking fans inside his personal real-life love story in the lyric video for his new single, "The Reason."

Dodd co-wrote the song with Michael Whitworth and Dan Fernandez, who also produced the track. The song is an ode to the kind of love that can make a man want to change his ways.

"If I fall in love / If I give it all to us / My wild heart is tamed, my pride finally breaks / Surrenders to this feeling / You'll be the cause / You'll be the reason," Dodd sings in the chorus.

The Georgia native released "The Reason" in June, and he's already seen it added to playlists including Amazon Music's Introducing Country and Apple Music’s Breaking Country and Cool Country. That's part of what inspired him to put together a lyric video for the song.

"I was blown away with the amazing response to my new song and wanted to get something out to my fans that they could connect with visually," Dodd tells Taste of Country.

The lyric video focuses on shots of Dood and his band, both onstage and off, but the love story ends on a surprising and sweet note when it cuts to the singer and his real-life wife at their wedding.

"It was pretty cool that my wife, Anna, allowed me to share some of our actual wedding footage too," Dodd says, adding that there is more to come. "This is really just a little teaser of what’s coming soon in the music video."
