According to reports, an eight-year-old girl that was involved in an auto accident Thursday night in Sioux Falls has died.

Police told the Argus Leader an unknown medical condition caused Michelle Lee of Sioux Falls to black out and drive her 2009 Toyota Camry into a construction site. The car then struck a construction trailer.

Lieutenant Jerome Miller told KSFY-TV:

An off-duty police officer witnessed the accident. Miller said a 2009 Toyota Camry was westbound on 26th Street. After it proceeded past Sertoma Avenue it veered off the roadway, driving through a chain link fence before it struck a gooseneck trailer in a construction site. Miller said the crash ended several hundred feet away from the road.

The child, whose name has not been released, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident happened just before 8 PM at the Prairie west Branch Library construction site at 26th Street and Discovery Avenue.

KELO-TV reports that both Lee and the child were wearing seat belts.
