Sometimes, all's well that ends well.  Yesterday we reported a dog had been found west river wrapped in duct tape.  As is human nature, our first thought was 'animal  abuse' of some sort.  As it turns out, most likely that wasn't the case at all.  Take a look at today's report from The Associated Press.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say there are no signs of abuse in a dead dog that was found wrapped in duct tape and abandoned in western South Dakota.

A rock hunter found the body Monday on the frozen Cheyenne River in Pennington County. Sheriff's Capt. Corey Brubakken says the dog appeared to be wrapped with great care, leading investigators to believe it had been prepared for burial.

Authorities are still trying to determine who owned the animal and how the dog's body ended up on the river.

Officials estimate the mixed-breed pointer was 7-9 years old.

I don't know about you, but I was happy to see the story today.  Dogs and cats and animals in general can have a very profound effect on peoples lives and well being.  Many times a pet is the only bright spot in a persons day.  It's my hope that the way the dog was found was 'as stated,'  a sort of special preparation for burial.

Again, it's a great reminder though to care for your pets.  Make sure they have plenty of food and water and give them an extra pat or bit of love tonight when you get home.
