SIOUX FALLS, SD — Kyndal Clark scored 19 of her 26 points in the second half and overtime to lead the Drake Bulldogs past the South Dakota women’s basketball team 89-81 in overtime on Thursday night in the Sanford Pentagon.

Drake (2-2) outscored the Coyotes (1-4) 16-8 in overtime while shooting 4-for-5 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. The Bulldogs shot 46 percent (31-67) in the game while USD shot 36 percent (27-74).

Outside of Clark, four other Bulldogs reached double-digit points.  Emma Donahue scored 13 points, Caitlyn Ingle and Ashley Bartow had 12 and Lizzy Wendell added 11.

South Dakota also had five reach double-figure point totals, with Raeshel Contreras leading the way with 17 points.  Polly Harrington added 13 points, Nicole Seekamp tallied 12, Tia Hemiller had 11 and Lisa Loeffler had 10 points.  Margaret McCloud was one point away from a double-double with a nine point-12 rebound effort.

Drake had a chance to put USD away in regulation after Clark drew a foul with seven seconds remaining.  She missed the ensuing attempts and Hemiller’s 3-point attempt on USD’s side was off the mark to send the game into overtime tied at 73.

South Dakota made just one field goal in overtime, which was a 3-pointer by Nicole Seekamp to take a 76-73 lead with 4:40 left.  That trey was the lone three-pointer for the Coyotes, as they shot 1-for-14 from beyond the arc.  The Coyotes were 0-for-6 the rest of the overtime period.

South Dakota will host Boise State in its home opener on Sunday at 2 p.m.
