If you're involved in a Domestic Violence Relationship, Teri Jendusa Nicolai, an abuse survivor, urges you to get help!

"The longer you stay, the more that other person feels they have control over you. The abuse will get worse. But, you can always leave. Go get help! There are shelters throughout the community. Find out the best way to leave. Find out what t do to keep you and your children safe."

Although it wasn't easy, The Wisconsin woman left her abusive husband and is now involved in a healthy relationship.

"There is hope! You can get out and you can move! My life is so much different and better today."

Teri will share her story of surviving a deadly assault by her ex-husband during the upcoming 'Take Back The Night' annual event October 8th in Sioux Falls. Teri's story has been told on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and ABC's "20/20."
