My mom and dad were married almost 58 years.  How did their marriage survive 58 years?  They didn't always get along, they argued, they fought about some of the same things couples fight about today, yet they made it work.   I've never been married, so I can't give advice on the subject.  I'm not even sure my parents could give advice on the subject.  I believe they stayed married because that's just what couples from their generation did.  They were in it for the long haul.

I read something over the weekend that disturbs me.  The typical American marriage ends after 9.4 years.  I know several couples who've been married longer than that.  They must be doing something right.  Why don't marriages last nowadays?  Are couples just giving up faster?  Do they not try to work it out?

Have you been married longer than 9.4 years?  If so, can you give the rest of America some marriage advice?  What do you think is the most important key to a successful marriage?  Let us know on our Facebook page.  www.facebook.com/mix973.
