PIERRE - A Fort Pierre man has been sentenced to prison for a variety of charges stemming from shooting at an occupied vehicle.

Attorney General Marty Jackley announced Tuesday that Derek Boe was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated assault, 20 years for firing a firearm into an occupied vehicle and five years for possessing a firearm as a felon. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Authorities say Boe shot inside a vehicle that his girlfriend occupied in January 2012.

A jury earlier found Boe not guilty to attempted murder.

Boe was also sentenced to five years in prison for possessing methamphetamine while out on bond in August 2012. That sentence will be served consecutively to the others.
