As Delmont surpasses a week since the tornado that damaged over 40 structures on May 10, 2015, Tony Burke of the Red Cross says the next phase of the process is starting.

We’re transitioning right now from our response phase into our long term recovery phase, focusing on things such as disaster mental health.  We’ve had our disaster mental health folks down there the last couple of days meeting with people.  They’re actually having small group sessions with children as well, and they’ll be there for months to come, helping them in transition to getting back to some sense of normalcy.

Over ten thousand meals and snacks have been served to residents, emergency workers and volunteers in Delmont.

Organizers now say there is an additional need for donated rakes and wheelbarrows to help with the cleanup. They also say no further clothing donations are needed.

Donated items can be taken to the Donations Management Center, located in the Delmont American Legion.  Please enter Delmont from the east, using 284th Street.
