The Sioux Falls City Council had enough votes to have a second reading on whether or not there should be a public vote regarding the construction of a city administration building.

Although they were over the amount of signatures needed to bring the issue to a public vote, the petition was thrown out because the wrong petition form was used.

Still, with the number of people signing the petition, Councilor Pat Starr supports having an election.

Should Mayor Mike Huether move ahead with the bond sale in October, an vote any time after that would be "advisory only" according to city attourney Dave Fiefle.

A second reading and likely a decision will take place next Tuesday.

Those who voted for a second reading were Councilors Stehly, Star, Selberg, Neitzert and Erickson. Against: Kiley and Erppenbach.
