It’s a cautionary tale for equipment operators both on and off the farm.

Either a person or a group of people recently stole over 1,300 gallons of diesel fuel according to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.

The fuel has been pilfered mainly in northeastern sections of the county.  Farm machinery in fields and fuel storage tanks were both targeted by the thieves.

Initially the investigation is leading authorities to believe that the suspects are using a mechanical pump to siphon diesel fuel into a storage tank on their vehicle.

If anyone has pertinent information about these thefts you can contact the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
