Creative Spirits: An Anniversary Delight
As any man will tell you, the pressure is on when your wedding anniversary rolls around. For the last 8 anniversaries we’ve gone out to dinners, movies, shopping trips, even fishing. That one worked about as well as a lead sinker under a tiny bobber.
This year I decided to surprise her and hope for the best. I wanted to do something we’ve never done before. Then, I learned of a downtown Sioux Falls business called Creative Spirits.
We arrived downtown around 5:30 and made a stop at the Market on Phillips where we picked up a bottle of nice wine. Then walked to Creative Spirits, one block away on Main.
The little prank of telling Heather that we were going to have a nude portrait painted didn’t fly and not recommended. Just saying.
When you arrive, check in and find a seat by one of the tables. You’ll have a canvas, paints, wine glasses, and the art instructor will guide you through the evening.
Don’t worry if you’re not an artist. We’re not either. But with the help of artist Jillian, (and a few glasses of wine…) we managed to paint something we’re quite proud of. Along with the graciousness of the night’s host, Stephanie, we had a wonderful time. Our finished paintings are show in the above photo. We even sat next to couple who were also celebrating a wedding anniversary.
The night was a smash hit and plan to make a return visit soon. So, if you’re like me and needed something a little different to celebrate a special occasion, I recommend Creative Spirits. They have a cool Facebook page, too with lots of photos.
This is not a paid endorsement. I just wanted to share the experience. Cheers!
