It may be smooth sailing on your commute until later this month near the intersection of Interstates 29 and 229 in southwest Sioux Falls.  The South Dakota Department of Transportation says resurfacing will start March 14, 2016 with a price tag of just over 33 million dollars:

The projects will completely reconstruct about three miles of Interstate 29 from north of Tea Exit 73 to north of 57th Street and about one mile of I-229 from the I-29 interchange to just west of the Louise Avenue exit, including on and off ramps.

The project starts on northbound lanes of I-29 traffic from the Tea Exit to just past 57 street will be shifted to temporary pavement and bridge that was constructed last year.

Construction shifts on the southbound lanes on March 21 using temporary lanes.

Traffic on I-229 and ramp areas will be maintained with reduced lane widths.

Speed will be reduced in the construction area to 55 mph.

The  completion target date is Nov. 4, 2016.
