Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, the husband and wife team, produced one of the most emotional moments on the Country Music Association Awards when they accepted the award for song of the year. They won for “Over You”, a song they wrote about Blake’s late older brother Richie.

A big night for Little Big Town. The group won the single of the year honors for “Pontoon”, and in doing so, beat out some of the top country acts of last year. And they weren’t shy about letting the world know how happy they were. Members of the group jumped up and down, shouted and pumped their fists after winning their award.

After five years as the top vocal duo at the CMA Awards, Sugarland has been dethroned. Those honors go to Thompson Square. And it represents a real changing of the guard when it comes to vocal pairs at the CMA Awards. In the past 20 years, the CMA honor for top vocal duo has gone to either Sugarland or to Brooks & Dunn 19 times.

And the legend that was honored was Willie Nelson. Willie was presented with “The Lifetime Achievement Award”. And they poked some fun at Willie while presenting him with the honor. They were making fun about his pot smoking. Willie responded with “Guilty”. The emotional Willie, then thanked the CMA and Nashville for honoring him.
