The Hartford City Council meeting on Tuesday apparently is not the end of the saga surrounding the mayor.

KDLT News reports that Council members Brad Bjergaard and Ryan Bortnem tendered their resignations Thursday.

The resignations come two days after some residents voiced their frustrations with the council's handling of a decision for a recall of Mayor Bill Campbell.

More than enough signatures were submitted to start the process, but the City Council voted 4-3 on Tuesday to reject the election. Reasoning behind the stoppage include certain criteria for removing Campbell from office were not met.

Campbell was not present at Tuesday's meeting where Council President Doyle Johnson broke a 3-3 deadlock by voting a second time as Mayor which is allowable under state law.

Hartford residents still could take the matter to court if they wish to remove Campbell immediately. Campbell began his term as Mayor in May.
